I have most of the books by Chernev and although I like them all this is the one that really makes me reread it , because at my level is exactly what I need . Its not only a jumble of tactical problems , but an explanation on how to prepare the motifs and combine them that can oneself can do the same in the games; and as he says it ,one really has to learn the material to make it a stepping stone in our chess unfoldment.
This book helped me beat the top player on my high school chess team, though I was not on the team. My youngest son has taken up chess and I was very pleased to find this book in such good condition for him.
