Just what I needed
I gave this product the maximum 5 stars because it does exactly what I needed it to do, and it does so for very little money. I am not such an obsessive audiophile that I've run the output through an oscilloscope (or whatever tool one uses to measure such things) to scrutinize the signal for distortion. I judge the sound with, of all things, my ear. If the Pyle is degrading the signal, I can't hear it. The receiver I am currently using does not have a pre-amp out, but I wanted to be able to channel my phono through my equalizer. This Pyle pre amp made that possible. There is no on/off switch so it is constantly on. If this is shortening the life span of the unit, that might be a problem, but it has functioned properly for about a month so far.

It works just fine.
I don't have a scope anymore to check the waveform, but from a listening standpoint It works as it was intended. I am using it on a Pyle amp's AUX input to test a couple of my old turntables. I can tell the difference in cartridges through this preamp and the amp. Good for a bench setup. I wouldn't need it if it weren't for the amp I am using to test with. House system is an old Yamahaa 130 watt amp with an old pair of Bose 501's in the front and back Old Yamaha PX3 and Pioneer 909 tape deck. IThe Yamaha/Bose sounds much better than the bench system, but then it cost a few more buck, eh!

If you have an old turntable and a bunch of old albums that you haven't listened to in years, spend a few bucks and get this pre amp. It is not high end by any means but it does the trick. I can now play my records through my computer. It can also be used with a reciever like in the old days (current recievers don't have built in pre amps any more). With the right software and a little time you can even digitize your collection. There is a bit of a hum with this device but I believe with the right grounding arrangement I can get that to go away.

Novice Audiophile
Inherited a nice technics SL 1300 and needed an amp. Did not want to spend a lot of money. This works perfectly and has all the features of a more expensive midel. Super easy to set up, just plug and play.

Good Phono Preamp
I'm an audio nut, and was looking for something dirt cheap as this was for a small hybrid tube amp. I did not want to spend the money on something that was a temp set up. I was pleasantly surprised at the sound out put to the amp on this little guy. If you are setting up a nice system, go with the Rolls, if you are playing around with modern receivers, or pretty much any modern gear this is a great little preamp. Kind Regards, John

Brought our vinyl records back into our life
Over a year ago, our stereo system would not play records anymore although all the other types of media played fine. I tried cleaning plugs, wires, switching from phono to aux inputs, etc. but nothing worked. Wasn't sure if it was the turntable or the receiver. On a hunch, I bought one of these pre-amps and plugged the turntable into one of the aux inputs on the stereo. Like magic, the system was brought back to life! I can't believe how great analog records sound through a 230 watt Sherwood Receiver with vintage Omega speakers. These speakers have 15" woofers, 4" mid range, and dual 2.5" tweeters in each cabinet. Compared to digital music through earbuds, it sounds like a live band is in your house! Best $13 I ever spent!

Does the trick!
Got a new receiver and as happy as I was with it..where is the phono input? So came across this item and hooked it up. Does perfect and good audio quality from the turntable. Not sure if it's audiophile quality since I am on substandard speakers at the moment but it sure sound good on what i have running now.

Metal-Small-Powerful
1) Quality Metal Construction with pretty good connectors, metal as well 2) Very small and hides easily. 3) Will bring your turntable back to life-great sound. Only negative is lack of a power switch. Excellent Value.

A good little preamp
This is a good preamp. especially for the money. I checked its response against the official RIAA phono specification. Compared to the the gain at 1 kHz (~ 34 dB) the response at 100 Hz and 10 kHz was within +- 2 dB. This is perfectly acceptable for most listeners. The noise level was noticeably lower than that of the phono preamplifier built into my SONY receiver.

Works good, but...
It works good and is very affordable. perhaps that's why it doesn't have an on/off switch. So I added one inline on the power cord. My new Yamaha receiver has no switched power outlets, and I don't like leaving anything on all the time.
