Synopsis
The case for revolutionizing the U.S. economy, from a leading CEO America used to define itself by the things we built. We designed and produced the world's most important innovations, and in doing so, created a vibrant manufacturing sector that established the middle class. We manufactured our way to the top and became the undisputed economic leader of the world. But over the last several decades, and especially in the last ten years, the sector that was America's great pride has eroded, costing us millions of jobs and putting our long-term prosperity at risk. Now, as we struggle to recover from the worst recession in generations, our only chance to turn things around is to revive the American manufacturing sector--and to revolutionize it. In Make It in America: The Case for Reinventing the Economy , Andrew Liveris--Chairman and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company--offers a thoughtful and passionate argument that America's future economic growth and prosperity depends on the strength of its manufacturing sector. The book explains how a manufacturing sector creates economic value on a scale unmatched by any other, and how central the sector is to creating jobs both inside and outside the factory Explores how other nations are building their manufacturing sectors to stay competitive in the global economy, and describes how America has failed to keep up Provides an aggressive, practical, and comprehensive agenda that will put the U.S. back on track to lead the world It's time to stop accepting as inevitable the shuttering of factories and staggering job losses that have come to define manufacturing. It's time to acknowledge the cost of inaction. There is no better company to make the case for reviving U.S. manufacturing than The Dow Chemical Company, one of the world's largest manufacturers and most global corporations. And there's no better book to show why it needs to be done and how to do it than Make It in America ., The case for revolutionizing the U.S. economy, from a leading CEO America used to define itself by the things we built. Buffett "Andrew Liveris has hit a raw nerve regarding American economic competitiveness. His book is required reading for anyone in politics or business who believes in both America's greatness and future. He's absolutely right! We can come back-and big!" - Jon M. Huntsman , Chairman and founder, Huntsman Corporation "Andrew Liveris has delivered an informed, timely, and provocative blueprint for revitalizing America's economic might. It's an important book for anyone seeking an experienced business leader's view on what America must do to compete effectively in the twenty-first-century global economy." - W. James Mcnerney, Jr. , Chairman, President, and CEO, The Boeing Company "In this passionate argument for a strong U.S. manufacturing sector, Andrew Liveris rejects the false dichotomy between the 'old' and 'new' economy and between 'low-tech' and 'high-tech' businesses. Manufacturing industries have a powerful multiplier effect on growth up and down the supply chain. To strengthen this vital sector, we need to shore up the very things-R&D, technological superiority, and investment-friendly public policies-that will create jobs, competitiveness, and opportunity throughout the entire economy." - Ivan Seidenberg , Chairman and CEO, Verizon "Liveris delivers a clear and compelling case for maintaining a robust manufacturing sector in the global marketplace of the twenty-first century. Every American who is concerned about the current or future state of our economy should read this book. For those who believe, as I do, that a strong manufacturing base is vital to creating jobs, innovation, and prosperity, this is a book to read and recommend to everyone you know." - Bill Ford , Executive Chairman, Ford Motor Company, America used to define itself by the things it built. We designed and produced the world's most important innovations, and in doing so, created a vibrant manufacturing sector that built the middle class. We manufactured our way to the top and became the undisputed economic leader among all nations.

- c***r (558)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufMost importantly, the book condition was as specified. Many thanks for that. Also, the book was delivered promptly from the USA to the UK. Also, the price was reasonable for an out-of-print book. However, one point of constructive criticism: the packaging could have been much better, in order to better protect the book in transit. The book was sent in a bubble-wrap mailer only, with no cardboard to give the package greater strength. Thank you very much for any consideration of my feedback.
- 3***6 (146)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThe mail service absolutely ravaged the top binding corner of the book, which really was a disappointment. It’s not your fault as a seller, but please consider that a book in a snug envelope is very unsafe rather than a slightly larger envelope of the same strength. It’s not going to affect your rating. I will say nothing. But please consider this in the future- Post is treated poorly and customer service is poor with mail, so it’s necessary to ship properly, especially if you sell books. :)Pistis Sophia: The Gnostic Tradition of Mary Magdalene, Jesus, and His Disciples (Nr. 116542842875)
