  • The Best Perry Como Tribute Ever Written

The introductory pages of this book ask why there were not many such books written about one-of-a-kind superstar Perry Como. The answer is that Perry always wanted his personal life to remain private, and that wish was granted throughout his 60+ years as an entertainer. But now, 18 years following his passing, and 107 years after his birth, I can only applaud the Macfarlane/Crossland publication as a winner in every respect. There is nothing whatsoever in this book that would have been an embarrassment to Mr. C. In fact, its pages are overwhelmingly dedicated to giving insight into the fascinating professional career of this awesome entertainer. I have been a Como fan since 1957 and thought I knew everything there was to know about him. But this book brings a sensitivity to Perry's entire life and persona that is truly inspiring. The detailed listings of his many recordings and TV/radio appearances are amazing, and I have referred to them several times when a question has come to mind about a particular song or Como Show telecast. In addition, careful and detailed research by the authors found that some of the colorful stories about Perry that were carried by the media for years weren't "exactly" true, and it's fun to read the "facts" as disclosed by members of Perry's own family. This book brings Perry Como to life again and keeps him living in the hearts of those who followed him for decades. "Perry Como: A Biography and Complete Career Record" is a treasure!
