A Great Film Noir, Gem of a Movie
Here's a slam-bang, suspense-crime noir that rates high with me. Poor John Payne seems to be having a terrible run of bad luck and goes from champion boxer to driving a cab. Things go from bad to worse and then he finds his wife, dead in the back of his cab. He is accused of murder and must elude the cops while trying to track down the killer. Lots of action in this one with a host of low-down criminals to fight. This one is a real winner of a movie and now one of my favorites. *****
