Synopsis
Charleston Jazz sets out to reveal the rich, untold story of the evolution of American jazz in one of its major cradles: Charleston, South Carolina. The text and images show that what happened on the Gullah coast of South Carolina in terms of history, culture, and entertainment had a huge impact on jazz as we know it today. By all accounts, jazz is America's classical music. It now stands at the dawn of its second century and is poised to take its place as one of the more meaningful cultural phenomena ever to come along. Since Charleston was the gateway for enslaved Africans into the United States, it is no wonder that this uniquely beautiful place produced key creators of what many believe to be this country's most important influence on world culture. An international Charleston diaspora of jazz musicians attests to the fact that the likes of Freddie Green, William "Cat" Anderson, and Edmund Thornton Jenkins spread the Charleston style everywhere. Charleston jazz is one of the last great unknown stories in American history., Charleston Jazz sets out to reveal the rich, untold story of the evolution of American jazz in one of its major cradles: Charleston, South Carolina. - a***i (175)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufBUYER BEWARE! They NEVER SHIPPED THE ITEM. I sent messages, NO RESPONSE. I finally let eBay handle it. Ebay's response was: "This case was found in your favor. More info: We didn’t receive valid proof of delivery from the seller." This was very unfortunate; I really needed this item for my research. It has significantly hindered a project I am working on. This is, I believe, my first negative review in nearly 20 years of purchasing. BTW, I didn't want a refund, I wanted the book!
- r***r (296)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufFantastic books in fantastic condition- like new. Excellent description by seller. Packed, shipped, received quickly. All around great purchase and wonderful seller with a great variety of books for sale. Answered questions very quickly.Yuge!: 30 Years of Doonesbury on Trump (Volume 37) by Trudeau, G. B. - 9***9 (27)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufAny positive feedback on this seller is a straight up lie, they will just pocket your money and never ship your purchased item and never respond to any messages regarding it. I had to get ebay themselves to step in and issue a refund after nearly a month of no shipment or response and they even rejected my cancellation request showing that they are simply ignoring me. This seller is extremely scummy and you should avoid purchasing an item from them at all costs. I repeat DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!
- n***h (38)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThe item arrived as described. I really appreciate the seller sending the book wrapped well in a box and not sent in a bag like many sellers do.The Lowcountry : From Charleston to Savannah Hardcover Bob Krist (Nr. 116388714807)
