Synopsis
Winner of the Overseas Press Club Cornelius Ryan Award John Laurence covered the Vietnam war for CBS News from its early days, through the bloody battle of Hue in 1968, to the Cambodian invasion. He was judged by his colleagues to be the best television reporter of the war, however, the traumatic stories Laurence covered became a personal burden that he carried long after the war was over. In this evocative, unflinching memoir, laced with humor, anger, love, and the unforgettable story of MÃ(c) a cat rescued from the battle of Hue, Laurence recalls coming of age during the war years as a journalist and as a man. Along the way, he clarifies the murky history of the war and the role that journalists played in altering its course. The Cat from HuÃ(c)i> has earned passionate acclaim from many of the most renowned journalists and writers about the war, as well as from military officers and war veterans, book reviewers, and readers. This book will stand with Michael Herr's Dispatches , Philip Caputo's A Rumor of War , and Neil Sheehan's A Bright, Shining Lie as one of the best books ever written about Vietnam-and about war generally., John Laurence covered the Vietnam war for CBS News from 1965 to 1970 and was judged by his colleagues to be the best television reporter of the war. His documentary about a squad of U.S. troops, "The World of Charlie Company," received every major award for broadcast journalism. Despite the professional acclaim, however, the traumatic stories Laurence covered became a personal burden that he carried long after the war was over. The Cat from Hué has earned passionate acclaim from many of the most renowned journalists and writers about the war, as well as from military officers and war veterans, book reviewers, and readers. Fast shipping, as described. Good price for a paperback. I only suggest that books be wrapped either in paper or bubble wrap when shipped in a mailing envelope. The shipping causes rubbing on cover and although the envelope was torn in shipment the book was intact.

Got the FLINTSTONES complete series box set from seller J AND G DISTRIBUTING and got it at a great price. The listing said quality was good and the 20 DVDs all came in good playing condition. Appearance of the outside of case was close to new looking. It showed up days earlier than listed and well wrapped up. Got a great series for a great price, delivered early, in good shape. Total win for me, from a good seller.

Item arrived quickly, bubble-wrapped, secure within its jewel case, and with the disc surface in very good condition as described. Seller was extremely responsive, and helped to quickly resolve my questions. Highly recommended.

FIVE STARS! Thank you. I'm sure I'll enjoy reading this book. I'm was a Navy Corpsman and Vietnam Veteran. I served with the Marines for two years but it was at the Quantica Marine Base outside Washington D.C. I was at the Naval Hospital and in charge of the Cardiac Clinic there working with the Chief of Medicine and two Internal Medicine Doctors.
