Great, cost effective option for 12 core 24 thread processing
The processor works perfectly and was easy to install. Make sure to enable hyperthreading in the bios so you get the full 24 hyperthreads. This CPU is much more cost effective than a dual core machine with two 6 core processors. It makes my Dell T5810 fly in multiprocessing tasks. Turbo mode gives you 3 Mhz performance per processor which is not up to the 4 mhz or so of modern i7's but the massive multiprocessing *more* than compensates for various types of workflows.
This CPU is supported by the ASUS Z10PE-D8WS motherboard. It specs the same as the Intel Xeon E5-2680 V3. Anyone interested in building a budget friendly extreme workstation can pair a set of these 12 core (24 thread) CPU's (for a 24 core / 48 thread system) and end up with a machine that is comparatively valued for more than twice as much as building a 2680 system from scratch. I have two of these running on this board and managing a Blue Iris HD Camera set, and where I was constantly bumping 100% CPU load with a single Xeon E3-1225V3 CPU with 11 HD cameras, my CPU load now is a cool 13%. Time for more cameras... This is an extremely cost effective solution for anyone in need of an extreme workstation.
