This is Konami's sequel to 1999's critically praised original Silent Hill, which was often noted for its deep storytelling, believable environments, and engrossing gameplay. Like the original PlayStation game, the Xbox's Silent Hill 2 is an interactive horror story built to derive its effectiveness from unsettling inconsistencies in an otherwise realistic, believable small-town setting. It is written to disturb players with a growing, pervasive sense of darkness and unseen evil, as opposed to regularly shocking them with sudden, unexpected events.<br><br>While set in an area of the same town of Silent Hill, this game features a new protagonist and a new storyline, which begins with a love letter from a woman who has been dead for three years. Also new is the sequel's platform. Developed for "next-generation" machines like the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox, Silent Hill 2 is designed to take advantage of the improved technology over that of the original platform to deliver dynamic environmental effects, detailed city streets, and expressive characters that will enhance both realism and utter spookiness.

    Xbox Silent Hill 2 Restless Dreams

    I'm a big fan of the Silent Hill series. My favorites are the first and Silent Hill 4 which for me, 4 was the best yet. One of the best and earlier running survival games. Everything you would expect from an SH game is in this one. Great story line, killer graphics for it's time, great music, very compelling. Plays great on original Xbox, but many experience glitches on Xbox 360. Definitely worth it! Enjoy!

    The best version of SH2?

    If you're a fan of survival horror, then you already know about the Silent Hill franchise. The first game was one of the first, if not the first, console horror games that successfully drew you into the narrative so deeply that the line between playing a game and experiencing the existential dread of the situation virtually dissapeared for large segments of a play through. Poor Harry Mason was never going to escape unscathed, and the reality of enjoying a palpable sense of doom was delivered in spades. SH2 delivers a similar experience, although of course, it can't quite summon that initial spirit of dread that the original provided.     Silent Hill... Where it all began.

    Silent Hill 2, in my opinion, is where great survival horror begins and ends. Second to none in atmosphere, story, and character development. Just like the fog within the game, once you're in the game you'll get lost in it. Forever lost in Silent Hill.

    One of the best horror games ever made and highly recommended to anyone seeking a true horror experience. No lame jump scares but true horror.

    Must Have

    A great game. It combines a chilling atmosphere with nightmare-inducing enemies to scare you to the bone. The story is deep and delves into human psychology and sexuality. It is a good game for those getting into horror, as it is only about 9-10 hours long and not very difficult at lower settings. For fans of horror or those who want to see video game story-telling at its finest, this is a must-have.
