English singer-songwriter Joss Stone's great talent is featured in her first concert release, MIND, BODY & SOUL SESSIONS: LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY. The concert footage is from Stone's sold-out show at New York City's Irving Plaza, a venue known for its intimacy and for hosting the best alternative and cutting-edge acts on the contemporary music scene. The youthful Stone is known for her unique renditions of soul and R&B classics, but has also emerged as a skillful songwriter. She has collaborated on songs with other artists as diverse as Betty Wright, Portishead's Beth Gibbons, and the Roots. The MIND, BODY & SOUL SESSIONS contains performances by Stone of hits from both of her multi-platinum albums, THE SOUL SESSIONS and MIND, BODY & SOUL--including her singles "You Had Me," "Super Duper Love," and "Fell in Love With a Boy," a re-working of a song by fellow hipsters the White Stripes. The MIND, BODY & SOUL SESSIONS allows fans to get close to Stone at her best, in a soulful live performance in a special setting.

Full of mind body and soul
My sister gave me this CD when it came out,so naturally when I spotted this incredable deal I bought it. I'm not sorry in the least this is a great performance of a musician in her early years filmed fantastic and captures the magic that is and will always be Joss Stone get it it's worth every penny!!

Great performance
Now, I love this artist because, well, I prefer to listen to and watch female singers and musicians in general. I find them much more attractive both and voice and presentation. I love her genre of music; the blues, in this case. She had songs out at a young age, and at the time, it was unusual for young women to do soul, blues or rock. I was the same age as her when she made her debut, and have seen all of her videos and saw her grow up. Unlike Britney, who was popular when I was a kid, and superseded musical or vocal talent, to become just famous for being famous. Britney was also much older than me, and I never felt like she was on the same level of a normal person, as the news would make whole stories about how she spends a ton of money at Starbucks. Anyway, this artist, on the other ... Now, I love this artist because, well, I prefer to listen to and watch female singers and musicians in general. Anyway, this artist, on the other hand, is far more talented than her level of fame would suggest, and even, in spite of being English, and even royalty to some degree, seems to have a sweet hippie aura. She never wears shoes, she includes the audience in some of her signature songs, she even praises audience members like they are part of her life. She is probably around 30-33 years old at the time of this review, and to see this video from 2004 or 05 was just fantastic. As for the quality of the production of the video, it could be better. I mean, it's not very loud, and when she is talking to the audience in between singing, it's hard to hear her. The camera work on the video is not very professional, zooming into random spots on the stage while she's singing, or providing riveting closeups of just her mouth and teeth, as if not only could they fit her whole body in frame, but couldn't even get a full face shot. That said, it's fine because it has no bearing on the performance. She has a great voice, and it was filmed before excessive use of technology resulted in singers altering every phrase that they sing. She actually had to be able to do the song, and she never sounds sub par compared to her studio recordings when singing live. She's always spot on. She IS my personal favorite female artist, and while the male artists I enjoy also make use of the higher register (Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin/Brian Johnson AC/DC) I am always weary of comparing female and male acts because male celebrities dominate societal consciousness and it's unfair to any female singer or musician to do so, That said, I also realize that it is a personal preference of mine alone to listen to wonderful female artists, and that it not necessarily the case with everyone, so while I refuse to say that she is my favorite artist ever, I will say, again, she is my favorite female artist, keeping in mind that I personally love girls and their voices.

Haven't had the chance to view yet. Sure it is very good. Been a fan for a long time, would cherish the chance to see live. In short, take a chance on this one. You won't be sorry.
