The Intel Xeon X5670 is a 6-core processor that runs at 2.93 GHz. Having multiple cores allows this Intel CPU to handle multiple tasks at once. With each core running a different operation, the Xeon X5670 is great for people who like to multitask. This unit is compatible with the FCLGA1366 socket. This is a popular socket size and is often used for Intel Xeon processors. The socket supports plug and play, so you can plug compatible Intel CPUs into the socket and go.The Intel Xeon X5670 2.93 GHz has a maximum RAM size of 288GB. It's compatible with DDR3 RAM and offers three channels of memory. This Xeon 2.93 GHz model also has a maximum memory bandwidth of 32 GB/s. This is the largest amount of memory that the processor can read every second. One reason for the high benchmarks of this processor is its six cores. Each core is clocked at a frequency of 2.93 GHz or 2,930 MHz. When using Intel Turbo Boost Technology, this number can be overclocked to 3.33 GHz or 3,330 MHz. It's these high specifications that make this a great Xeon processor for PC gaming in a 64-bit system.The Xeon X5670 2.93 GHz unit features three levels of cache. In total, this Intel Xeon unit offers 12MB of Intel SmartCache. This is a type of program designed by Intel that shares cache found in the last level. This results in a fluid exchange of cache to the areas that need it the most. This makes your motherboard more efficient and faster at distributing resources.This Xeon 2.93 GHz CPU has a thermal design power, or TDP, of 95W. This is the amount of energy, in watts, that this unit needs to run at its base frequency. Thanks to Intel Thermal Monitoring Technologies, overheating isn't an issue. The hardware uses Digital Thermal Sensors to monitor its core heat level. These sensors can lower the power consumption of the Intel Xeon X5670 2.93 GHz to avoid overheating if necessary.This Xeon unit has a bus speed of 6.4 GT/s QPI. This is the rate at which the Xeon CPU carries data between itself and the memory controller via the QPI. The QPI works much in the same way as the HyperTransport found in AMD units. A faster QPI speed means that the Xeon unit can access the data stored in the memory controller quicker. With the high transfer rate of the QPI in this unit, PC users can prevent bottlenecking. This prevents QPI slowdown and lag when playing games. The Intel Xeon X5670 2.93 GHz unit also features Intel's Execute Disable Bit functionality. This piece of built-in Intel tech acts as a buffer, protecting the Xeon unit from malicious programs that attempt to access the core.This Xeon 2.93 GHz unit also features Intel VT. This is a type of virtualization software that works with your system to improve the overall performance of the computer. That allows for the creation of a number of environments on one PC. These virtual environments can also be split up across a number of servers as well. Moving software away from the hardware can reduce costs and help strengthen core security.
