I love this little logger for simple task.
I am using this at a restaurant where the employees believe the water heater mysteriously quits making hot water. In the month I have had the external probe attached to a pipe right above the water heater the temperature has never dropped below 110°F --- even though I have received a call that there is no hot water. I was getting a call about once per week about no hot water. Turns out the problem was "no operational brain" of the employees. I'm still waiting on water heater to fail. Maybe it will in a few years. Concerning the RC-4 --- I received no instructions from the manufacturer or indication on their website that this is an older model BUT IT USES the newer software published for the URC-4 (or 5). Fantastic temp logger!
This thing is simply fantastic, easy to startup and use anywhere. It takes very accurate data compared to my calibrated Fluke probe from 0F to 120F. The software downloads are fast, very informative, and the interface is quite well designed. My ONLY complaint is the Excel file output is full of notations that block the easy creative of a graph but other than that it is just great!

NIce for the price.
Have only used this for less than a month, but it appears to be well built. I found the instructions a bit confusing but was able to figure things out without too much difficulty. The pdf report feature is simple and easy to read.

Elitech RC-5, great little data logger for the price
Great little temperature data logger for the price if bought right (not full retail). Bought 5 of them, four tracked well, one was only 0.2 F different (two-tenths of 1 degree!!). Software worked with Windows 10. Easy to program. Not too hard to load data into either a spreadsheet, pdf or document. When data loads it even comes up as a graph. They have a little slot where I can slip in a plastic wire tie and then attach or hang the unit where needed. Instructions are a bit cryptic (poor translations) but certainly able to understand. Would buy more of the same if I needed more, but 5 are enough for now. Great value.
The hardware works fine. It is meant to be used for items in shipment as a record of temperature and humidity. Once the log button on the unit has started it can be stopped by pressing and holding the button again. It cannot be restarted until the unit is connected to a computer and the data is downloaded and/or reset by the included software. Also, the software is a little crude. I have taken many sets of readings and have been very happy with the logged data. New sets of readings can be taken after every reset. Accuracy seems reasonableThe hardware works fine.
