Haydn's Humor
I love Haydn's Vocal Quartets. He wrote these songs without being commissioned near the end of his life for his own pleasure. Among these of special note is Der Greis ("The Geezer"). This famous autobiographical song was used by Haydn on his calling card. Haydn loved visitors, but when he was not well enough to receive his servant would hand the would-be caller a card one which the opening lines of this song were printed (in German): "Fled is my strength forever and I am old and week." Haydn also appended this to his last uncompleted string quartet.

Best Tube Amplifier available
0 von 1 finden das hilfreich McIntosh tube amplifiers are the most user friendly, trouble free tube power amplifiers available. The ones to have are the original Mc220,Mc240 and Mc275. When McIntosh discontinued these amplifiers in 1967 their prices skyrocketed. Refurbished pre-1967 models are to be preferred over the later reissued versions because the pre-1967 models have point-to-point wiring rather than the printed circuits in the reissue versions.

A Must Have For Any Interested in George Szell
This box is a bargain. It contains all the great recordings that George Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra made on the Columbia label. There is also a disc with comments by those who worked with this great and sometimes difficult conductor. [When Szell exited the interview in which he was being considered for principal conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra the first words spoken were "Dr. Szell is not an easy-going person." When someone said "Dr. Szell is his own worst enemy" Rudolf Bing rejoined "Not while I'm alive.]
