A world without colour
Wonderful to find such a rare, out of print book at a reasonable price, however, I was extremely disappointed by the poor quality of the reproduced images- blurred, black and white photocopies of
vivid botanical engravings that were originally hand-coloured. Useful as a reference and insight into the pioneering work of 18th century female artist and herbalist Elizabeth Blackwell, but of no use to artists who might want to copy the original illustrations.
