Buy the decent ones and you only have to buy once.
These are the ones I should have bought before instead of the cheap ones which are short and bendy. They have a good feel to them and have already been used to change o-rings on my car. Not the hardest job, but way better than using a small screwdriver.

Original style Haynes manual with clear photographs.
Although this is a new version of the book with a soft-back cover and bar codes on the back (and a website address, no less), inside it is the original seventies/eighties book with proper page numbers etc. and exactly what I was looking for. The older manuals describe repair and maintenance in a way that seems easier to understand (especially photos and diagrams), on the other hand the older books insist on telling you that special tools are required when often there's another way. It's swings and roundabouts. Also, I ticked good value, but obviously it depends on the seller. This book isn't rare or difficult to get hold of - I paid about the same as a book for a newer car would have cost.
