History + Mystery + Good Writing
Reading a lot during seclusion. Have had a book from this series for years but had not read it. Since I like history and mysteries - this was great! Candace Robb writes very well, books are carefully researched, and there are 12 in this series!

Looked great but shows weathering way too quickly!
Only yes or no answers to 'recommend' 'value' and 'quality' are not enough. Stump table is very attractive, detailed and nicely finished. But after only 4 months use outside, there was a narrow crack on the top that needed filled and now paint is starting to flake on the top. And I did, as suggested, spray it with a couple of coats of polyurethane for protection.

Both deeply researched and very readable
Fascinating reading - well researched and detailed about Victoria the woman and the queen. Also gives a good overview of the social and political history of England during her reign, a period of great great change in social mores from the Georgian period through what we now refer to as the "Victorian" era, economic change with the Industrial Revolution, and political change with the move toward more representation with wider voting rights, for men at least! Victoria was a much more complex personality than most people realize. Bravo to author Julia Baird!
