Brand name worth it
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Could have bought unbranded for a little less money and maybe it would be just as reliable, but maybe not. Did not want to be Penny wise and pound foolish, risking my expensive electronic key fob with a generic cell that might leak at end of life.

Great price for a great brand.
Cheaper than Dollar Tree for this very popular style.

Keep oil in the engine, not on the lawnmower deck.
I am determined to keep this old Torro lawnmower alive as long as possible, mowing 14,000 sq ft of lawn for the exercise. When I found a bunch of oil on the deck, and had to keep the oil level near the fill line, I naturally became interested in a new mower. Still, I researched, and found that since the oil was not coming out of the oil filler tube at the base, and removing the engine cover showed a clean engine top so not likely the breather, and the head gasket area and valve cover area seemed clean, that left the base gasket. Anecdotal evidence from other postings supported the view. And it was right. The actual cost of repair was more than the gasket because of mistakes on my part. I stripped a screw in the aluminum engine casting by setting my big torque wrench to the top of the mark instead of the bottom. Should have borrowed a smaller inch pound torque wrench at the beginning from AutoZone, as I ultimately did. Borrowed a gear puller from Advanced Auto to pull the blade adapter, and then purchased a Fix-a-Thread repair system from them. Was careful to watch video series on tearing down the Tecumseh engine, which was important, because in disassembly, the valve gear assembly came out with the sump, requiring realignment with the crankshaft gear based on little marker circles. I have mowed the lawn twice, and not a drop of oil on the deck.
