Compelling non fiction

compelling telling of one of WWIIs lesser known tragedies. Well told

Holocaust Classic

The story is written from a child's perspective and is compelling and ultimately tragic. Fear, distrust and naivete on the part of the Jewish population and thinly veiled antisemitism of the general population combined to create the caustic environment of the period. I believe that a brief forward describing the turbulent history of the Podkarpatska Rus region with a few maps would have enhanced the story for those unfamiliar with the area.
