Mah Jongg: The Art of the Game: A Collector's Guide to Mah Jongg Tiles and Sets
    17. Feb 2016
    A lovely and educational book
I own more than two dozen books on mah jongg and this quickly became one of my favorites. While it deals with sets from a collector's perspective (for example, how to tell ivory from bone), it also deals with the game from a player's perspective (rules and strategies). All in all, this is a nice addition to any mah jongg addict's library.

Excellent for beginners and players returning to game after a long absence.
I am returned to chess playing after decades of absence. I was looking for books that were a bit beyond beginner (namely didn't spend an inordinate amount of time with the mechanics of castling, etc.) but not what might more appropriate to a intermediate or advanced player. This was one of the two I found best met my needs (the other was John Nunn's Learn Chess). I have, in the last several months, purchased additional chess titles as my competence has increased and disposed of some of the simpler books. This book and Mr. Nunn's, however, I've retained for ongoing reference and a likely re-read.
