Typo in the programming instructions of 940-EV causes confusion

Bought it to replace one that was exactly the same, but had become inconsistent, probably just due to heavy use over many years. As a temporary solution: we had already changed codes in the past, and for awhile that worked because we were switching to buttons that had not been used before.
Be aware that there seems to be a typo in the manufacturer's programming directions. At step six it reads "... then press and release the ENTER button until the garage door opener lights flash ..... "
I found that it should have read: ... then press and HOLD the ENTER button until the garage door opener lights flash ..... Or another way it could have been worded would be ..... then press but DO NOT release the ENTER button until the garage door opener lights flash ......
Until I realized this error in the words, I could not program it.
My instructions had copyright 2017 on them. And document number 114A5044C.
FYI, my garage door opener is the variety that has the yellow colored learn button. (This will mean something to you when you read the programming directions). Perhaps it is different for other varieties of openers.
