Nice little micrometer at a lovely price - perfect to help me fix watches

Adequate for my purposes
Just got this - I plan to adapt it to fit to my watchmaker's lathe... You're not going to get micro precision at this price, the thread is reasonably stiff and came covered in some sort of sticky gunk - once I'd soaked it in an organic solvent and oiled it liberally, it seems to function OK . It's not going to suit heavy duty work and is desigend to be held in place with a single M4.5 (i think ) bolt - I've removed this and made a mounting plate so it fits my lathe.
Pro's - Very Cheap, nice and small,
Con's - Thread is rather sticky to move, even after oiling
ON the whole I'd say good value as the alternative is around £120 I got what I expected

Works on a Pultra 8mm too :-)
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Bought this one as a bit of a gamble to be honest - I have an 8mm Pultra watchmakers lathe and the exact thread wasn't mentioned in the blurb.
The thread turns out to be an old fashioned 9/32 40 TPI - AKA Model Engineering thread at 9/32. Pultra parts are about as easy to source as rocking horse droppings so was delighted to see an exact fit.
I can now use much more available threads on my lathe saving huge sums on the components I will get next - example is that for a Pultra original 3 jaw chuck I'm looking at £150 minimum, versus this £13 adaptor and chucks that start seriously around £30 for the same spec - Spend £13 quid to save £120 gotta be worth it ! you know it makes sense, I'm now looking at the other boley adaptors to give me even more range.
Well done RGD - something I've not found anywhere else !!
