Excellent socks, if you have the right feet.
I was looking for extra long socks, as I need them to reach up over my calf muscles to prevent slide-down. These would be long enough for that, except that they are quite narrow. Stretching them to fit over wide feet causes them to shorten so that they are not quite long enough anymore. They claim to fit size 13-18, but it takes significant work to fit them over my size 11eeeeee. If your feet are normal width or high-mid-calf is long enough for you, then these are fine socks.

Positive actuation and high volume.
This model is no longer made, but was the best one I've found. The "dial" interface is simple to use, the valves open and close audibly, and the volume of flow is sufficient for a small sprinkler. We use them for soaker hoses in plantings around the yard and for the vegetable garden. A set of batteries will last all summer. I've had newer models and they just don't work as well. I've picked up a few spares of this model on e-bay and have not been disappointed with their performance.

A watering timer worth the price.
I cannot imagine what made Melnor stop making these. They are excellent timers for watering. A set of batteries lasts all summer. They have large-bore water channels so that they can support even high volume sprinklers. The controls are simple and the dials have solid detents to let you know when the setting has been changed. The internal actuators make a sound as the valves change position, so you always know if its working. The only modification I make to them is to use a fine-tipped marker to darken the tiny arrows on the dials to make them easier to see. The newer, "digital" version of these is a weak copy, not even worthy of comparison.
