Int Dict Of Education, 1977.
Obviously dated, but much of content still appropriate. Very well researched and genuinely international, it is a very good source of key names etc for further research. A shame the authors did not produce an updated edition every few years.

Wonderfully Emotive Oud Masterpiece
Great CD. Bought the CD after seeing them live at WOMAD in New Zealand (where we had the treat of a wonderful local belly dancer accompanying them for a few tracks), they sold out of CDs immediately at the gig, which is why I looked on Ebay. Really wonderful multilayered harmonies that are beautifully emotive. Never bought oud music before, but this has got me looking for more in the same vein. Good to sit back and listen to with a glass of wine or a coffee.

Groundbreaking in 70s, still very good now.
Brilliant album, originally had it on vinyl in mid-70s and it has withstood the test of time well. Very much trail-blazers at the time, this is early John Foxx Ultravox (ie the real stuff, not the later toned-down pop stuff when the line-up changed and they went all Vienna) at its best. Strong musically, and lyrically wonderful... sort of Ballardesque futuristic nihilism. Get this album, and you will regret not having bought it a long time ago. Check out "My Sex", "The Wild,
