I have an old Gateway sx2865 slim desktop and it woild freeze up opening some pdf's. I upgrade the ram to 8gb and still couldn't handle it. I noticed it was the small G540 processor. I looked up my mother board and it was the Acer H61H2-AD. It will only take processors with LGA115 socket up to 65w, so this one was perfect. Now my computer only consumes up to 30% of the ram and the processor barely run at 50%. I used the stock heatsink and fan and the processor tempurature stays between 55 and 60 degrees C even while using AutoCad LT. I do have a separate video card. Radeon 5450 512mb. Excellent drop-in replacement! Installed super easy. Ran immediately! I upgraded my desktop from a G620 CPU to this i5 CPU and MAN! What a difference! Speedy ain't the word! Excellent price point! Awesome Core I5 2500x! Best processor for an economic build!

Great, cheap upgrade.

I used this to upgrade a dated HP desktop that had a dual core I3-2100 into a faster quad core I5. Now a excellent general use desktop PC. Less than $40, but made a huge difference.

Easy upgrade for an old HTPC

Replaced an i3 2100 in a SFF system. The system is much more responsive in day to day use. By the benchmarks, it's about 30% faster overall.
