With water scarcity being witnessed all over the globe, judicious use and sustainable water conservation practices are the need of the hour. In an effort towards sustainability, an initiation has been taken up in Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad campus to recharge rainwater artificially into the aquifers. This study is an attempt towards detailed analysis of rainwater recharge structures in campus encompassing quantitative and qualitative parameters. A novel approach is being employed to filter rainwater surface runoff in JNTUH using Geo membrane layer. Hence a performance analysis is carried out to analyze the filtration rate of Geo membrane filter and compared with traditional Sand filter. Three physical models, one each for sand filter, Geo membrane filter and Geo membrane coupled sand filter are tested for filtration rates of five rainfall events. An attempt is made to bring out best filter among them by quality analysis by testing E.C,T.D.S and Turbidity and compared. Also Physio-Chemical water quality parameters after recharge are tested and spatially analyzed. This work gives an overall insights into sustainability and reliability of Rainwater Harvesting
