Imaginative Entertainment Is Alive & Well!
I like to have my favorite movies available on the shelf in DVD format, not streaming. "The Adjustment Bureau" is one of my favorites and provides much to ponder about after the film credits finish scrolling. Although the story moves at a fast pace, it never loses continuity and maintains the attention of its audience to the extent that you cannot stop watching because of what may, or may not, happen in the very next scene!. The film is truly well done - realistic, yet imaginative! For fans of Matt Damon and Philip K. THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU A TAUT SUSPENSE THRILLER/DRAMA/ROMANCE WITH ENGAGING CHARACTERS!
THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU is a story that I can't recall being told before, or certainly not in as appealing a way. It's built around the question of how much of life is already predetermined, chance, or free will. While that may not sound so thrilling or dramatic, it lies in the writing and excellent performances given by the main characters, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. The supporting cast, including Anthony Mackie, give equally outstanding performances as the figures of "THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU" itself. Without giving any "spoils", Matt Damon plays David Norris, an aspiring Senator contender who meets and falls in love with Elise (Emily Blunt) a contemporary ballet dancer. These 2 were never supposed to have met & their meeting will change the course of Destiny, which the mysterious men of THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU are determined to keep the 2 lovers apart. However, David Norris is not to be so easily swayed from his true love in order to adhere to the predetermined plan for his life. It's up to him to save both himself and Elise from the fate THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU have in mind for them & it's a thrill-ride throughout the film, as the 2 come together only to be torn apart, on several occasions. It comes down to how determined a person is to fight for who they love and what they truly believe in - perhaps with a little aid from a "bureau" rep. who is in trouble with the "bureau" for being responsible for the 2 lovers' first encounter, but who is secretly rooting for the 2! Even though I usually like these kinds movies, this was one of the worse movies I've ever seen!
