A better idea!
I realize the molding and such it takes to create these and thus the price, but I went right to Menards and bought expansion springs to put between the tightening feature, allowing the mouth of it to stay open to fit around the 1 inch ball mount, price- .98. Maybe a feature that could be added to this swivel arm. Thanks, Doug!

Ram Mount Double 1 inch Socket Swivel Arm RAP-B-200-2U
High quality durable mount. I use it on a snowmobile to mount a GPS unit to the handlebar so it has to withstand vibration and hold weight in a fixed position. Swivel capabilities helps adjusting things to the exact position desired.

Great accessory
This swivel arm added a little length to the original arm that came with my yoke mount which I need in some of the aircraft I rent do to large center cushions in the yokes. The center joint is very useful to help position the tablet lower or higher based on the particular aircraft I'm flying. It can also be used in conjunction with a glare shield mount and the joint allows me to opposition the tablet so it is not blocking my view of any instruments or switches. I would highly recommend this to anyone because of the flexibility it adds to the mounting system.

Exactly what I needed
Exactly what I needed to mount my Garmin GPS. The first RAM mount I purchased only provides vertical 180 degree tilting movement, and so was useless. I didn't realize until I tried the first RAM Mount that the angle is limited by how the RAM Mount mounts to the round ball. The Mount is locked in and can only tilt vertically back or forward depending on how the round ball is attached to the bike. This RAM mount has the same setup for attaching to the bike, 180 degree vertical tilt forward or backward, but the additional horizontal 360 degree swivel works amazingly well. My problem is a very small cockpit and I did not want to hide the Speedo behind the GPS and so had to mount the GPS to the left hand side at the end of the left handlebar. This allows me to position the GPS away from the screen, tilted to face me, and allows full view of the Speedo. Great product and wish I had understood how the ball mount actually worked when I ordered the first time.

A great mount with lots of flexibility where other mounts cannot do the job
A quality mount that allows you to position devices in multiple angles where needed. Straight mounts are more rigid but won't provide the same flexibility. However, the mount presents some limitations when the knobs are tightened. The groves lock together moving the heads into specific positions. Still, a great solution for a reasonable price.

Okay....
the Ram mount works as it should but is made of plastic so it has a tendency to vibrate in the vehicle which causes the phone to vibrate and make it difficult to look at and not go crazy. the metal mounts do not vibrate so I went back to my metal mount and are dealing with the less adjustable-ness and not ideal angle. I guess the lesser of 2 evils I just can't look at that thing bouncing around. vehicle is a jeep so it might be more bumpy than the average vehicle.

Limited applications for use due to excessive vibrations
It's the standard quality of a RAM mount so no surprises but the multi jointed item just doesn't hold up to vibration. This was going to be used to hold a camera or cell phone on a motorcycle but even with maximum torque on the joints it just vibrated way too much to be useful.

Wishing it came with security knobs
Good product from an honest American company well made and very functional I just wish it came edith high security knobs to begin with instead of having to order them after the fact think about it RAM

Trolling motor support.
I used it to support my trolling motor while traveling. I couldn't get the exact length I needed. This one is adjustable and it worked great along with Ram PN 345U-Tra1 that attaches to the Versatrack and the claw Ram PN 400U that attaches to the trolling motor shaft.

Heavy, but works great. Solid hold too.
Built well, but overkill on the weight. Great quality though. Holds my GPS firm, even in heavy wind.
