Jon Favreau’s "Cowboys & Aliens" is an epic action film that is based on the graphic novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. It starts in 1800’s Arizona amidst the conflict between cowboys and the apaches. This "Cowboys & Aliens" two-disc set includes the extended, unrated version of the film where Daniel Craig, a stranger suffers a memory loss. He wakes up in Silver City, Arizona. He finds a mysterious shackle wound around his wrist. He takes the help of the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford) and the mysterious Ella (Olivia Wilde). They join forces to defeat the aliens in a fight for survival in this non-stop action film. Additionally, this two-disc set of "Cowboys & Aliens" includes conversations with Jon Favreau; Igniting the Sky: The Making of "Cowboys & Aliens"; and Feature Commentary with Director Jon Favreau. It is a must-have for any fan of the movie.

    Worth it for the Special Features alone

    Of course the Blu-Ray's Video and Audio presentation is excellent. I mainly wanted to buy and view this for the Extended version and to compare that to the shorter Theatrical release, also included. The biggest treat was the fascinating commentary track from the Director Jon Favreau - one of the best I have come across. And among the Special Features, Favreau's conversations with Producer's Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard as well as others with several main actors were all fascinating. I was surprised to learn that much of the filming was made "Old School" - with actors physically doing most of the stunts on location (wires and cranes, etc.) rather than taking the easier route of resorting heavily to post production digital effects. Perhaps now I better understand why for nine years I ...

    Alien encounters are not only a modern day issue
