Slick, full featured, decent screen size
Pro’s.. I had the earlier TomTom Rider 2, which was great, but the 550 is much improved. It runs far smoother for a start, obviously a better processor in it etc., so the actual animation as you are travelling looks really good. The Rider 2 often struggled to keep up with this. The interface is simple enough to use, really intuitive, got going really quick with it, especially like the new wireless capability with it, now i just connect it up to my router and grab updates really easily. No more usb to my laptop to download files and update that way anymore! The new lane guidance where it splits the screen at motorway junctions is brilliant, theyve done a great job here, the guidance it gives really helps you make sure you get the right lane, very clear and well animated. Ive also used this in the car as i got the car mount for it as well, works a treat. Battery life seems to be very good so far and the screen size is excellent and will automatically render in portrait or landscape depending on the way the device is mounted or held like a mobile phone does. Device itself seems to be built well and is cited as weatherproof. Not been out with it in any rain yet though. If it is anything like the Rider 2, it will be fine, I took that out in some horrendous weather at times. Con’s.. I haven’t found any yet to be honest! My only minor issue was locating the power port, theyve tucked that away in a good out of the way spot, but once you know where it lives, you’re good to go.

Versatile sat nav for bike or car use
Neat and robust, can be used at home, on 2 or 4 wheels. Quick processor quickly finds and recalculate routes. Very easy to plan type of route according to road, elevation and convolution. May have problem reconnecting to phone and headphones for live traffic and media. Apple devices seem most susceptible to this problem. Otherwise good value for money.

Great sat nav
Very easy to use , best to change settings to heavy gloves so it’s a lot easier to use on the go. Much clearer at junctions than the garmin and seems to find better routes when running next to a garmin/Bmw sat nat The phone app is great to work routes out then just send to sat nav

Simply a great bit of kit.
Superb bit of kit, with the ability to send destinations from home PC or Laptop, download updates over wifi as well as sync GPX tracks and pre-planned routes via MyDrive. The screen is very clear and you can plan thrill rides by selecting how twisty or hill you want the route to be. Simply a great bit of kit.

tom-tom 550 rider.
Great product, enjoying all the new routes it has found for me to ride, easy to use, updates without plugging it into the laptop, work's well with my sena intercom and phone, I've got the car mount as well as the bike mount. Used it in my car just the once, it saved me a speeding ticket with the fixed camera alert thats built into the maps. Well worth the money.
