Synopsis
During the tumultuous era of World War II, the city of London shattered under unrelenting bombs dropped by Nazi Germany. Millions of buildings were destroyed or damaged, tens of thousands of civilians were killed, and survivors were left to ask: How can this destruction be part of God's plan? What is God's will in all of this? After City Temple in London was reduced to rubble, Rev. Leslie Weatherhead crafted five sermons on understanding the will of God to help his congregation endure religious doubt as their city--and church--crumbled around them. Weatherhead's sermons were eventually published as The Will of God, a resource that has sold more than a million copies and has been a lifeline for grieving persons seeking to understand God's purpose for their pain. This revised edition of the classic book includes background information and photos of the historical setting that inspired this book, and a new cover and layout to refresh a timeless message--both for new readers and returning fans., The phrase "the will of God" is used loosely, says Leslie Weatherhead, and the consequence of that looseness to our peace of mind is serious. Weatherhead's recognition of this problem led him to write The Will of God, a classic that has helped more than a million grieving persons better understand the meaning of the phrase. It can help you as well. It was during the tumultuous era of World War II that Leslie Weatherhead preached five sermons on understanding the will of God for the congregation at City Temple in London. Fastest shipping I have come across to-date; received a tracking number within 15 minutes of placing my order; packaging was more than sufficient to protect my purchase; items were as described in the post; best value I found on the songbook that I was looking for: found 3 for less than the price of the one that I wanted which everyone else was price gouging but this vendor was NOT! Thank you! 11/10 seller!!

  • Five Talks on the Will of God

"The Will of God" might help others to clarify their minds on a subject that is specially relevant to these days of loss and sorrow. The phrase "the will of God" is used loosely, and the consequence of that looseness to our peace of mind is serious. The author's compelling and thoughtful writings on the intentional, circumstantial, and ultimate will of God should be required reading for anyone wanting a closer with God!

  • A great little book about God’s love for us - especially on times of trouble and loss.

I thoroughly enjoyed his discussion of Gods love for us and the fact that he is most close to us when we have suffered tragedy.

  • The title says it.

Love it and recommend it. It really defines what its means to say those words. You will not use it loosely and you will not see it the same ever again.

  • Christian Classic for dealing with loss

Classic Christian view of the Will of God, great for helping someone deal with loss

  • Deep and thought-provoking

Our adult Bible Study (LCMC Lutheran church) studied this book over a five week period. It was so deep and so thought-provoking we all wanted to have our own copy so we could read it again at our leisure and discuss it with family and friends. An eye-opening book with a whole new approach to understanding the will of God. Well worth the time to read it and study it.
