2010 issue UK 16-track digitally re-mastered CD album - in 1977 Dennis Wilson's 'Pacific Ocean Blue' became the first solo LP to be released by a member of the Beach Boys, and over 30 years later it remains arguably the greatest solo work by a Wilson. This 2010 edition comprises the original album, alongside 4 Bonus Recordings [as featured on the 2008 Legacy Edition] including 'Tug of Love', 'Only with You', 'Holy Man [Instrumental]' and 'Mexico').

    A Rediscovered Gem

    Unfortunately, it took 40 years for this album to get the recognition it deserves. Luckily a whole new generation is discovering it. Rush, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, and a few others came out with some pretty classic albums the same year Dennis Wilson released Pacific Ocean Blue. Tough competition to be sure. But this album has aged well, and likely rates better now, respectively, than it did in 1977.

    I was surprised.

    I am of that generation who first heard the Beach Boys as a pop group singing fabulous harmonies about surfing, girls and cars. Then, I was lucky enough to hang in there when Brian Wilson's genius took over with Pet Sounds. I forgot about Dennis. He was the drummer and the manly real surfer in the band. It was only well after his unfortunate drowning that I heard his album. I ordered the CD and have been listening to it regularly. I had no idea how remarkably talented he was. Still having fun all summer long, Dennis. RIP.

    A Diamond in the Rough!

    Dennis Wilson was very talented and not given enough accolades for his musicianship when he was alive.

    Surprising!

    I wasn't expecting this, but this is one of the best albums I've ever heard in my life. The emotion comes through in an unfiltered way that is very unique. Inspiring, extremely well produced and just great!
