Genuine Canon printer? Use genuine Canon cartridges (why?)
If your experience differs from mine (meaning you own a genuine Canon printer from before Windows 10 compatibility) you might have better results than I. I've tried imitation cartridges, refilled cartridges, refurbished cartridges, and they don't really work. The ones that do dry out prematurely or generate error messages that won't go away.
Since 90% of the cost of a new printer is the ink, I find it cost-effective to keep my old Canon printer which hasn't broken down after 5 years of continuous use and just replace the cartridges. The genuine ones (if you can find them on retail) are retailing at $44-59 plus shipping and tax, so I find it also cost-effective to search eBay for these. The genuine ones keep for a couple of years if you store them in cool & dry spots, so it's a good idea to buy extra cartridges.
I can't review the high-quality photo paper that the eBay seller included in the deal, but it looks good as new and when I have a need for it I'm sure it'll deliver Canon quality results. My point: either buy the latest-greatest inkjet printer and hold onto it for a few years, and Canon has been more reliable to me than HP and Dell printers which break down after a year or two. Again, your experience might be different from mine. Thanks for listening!
