Imaginative theology and a bigger-than-usual budget make Kevin Smith's (CHASING AMY, CLERKS) fourth film a kind of post-Catholic fantasy that only a comic-book enthusiast of his caliber could dream up. It concerns banished angels, Loki (Matt Damon) and Bartleby (Ben Affleck) who, after a few millennia in Wisconsin, discover a loophole in Catholic doctrine that would allow them back into heaven--but prove the fallibility of God and destroy the universe. As they make their way to New Jersey to receive a plenary indulgence, God dispatches a seraphim (Alan Rickman) to recruit lapsed-Catholic Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) to stop the angels. She finds help in muses, prophets (Jay and Silent Bob), and the forgotten 13th apostle, Rufus (Chris Rock). Before long, all hell breaks loose (literally), and God (Alanis Morrisette) has to put in an appearance of her own. Smith's controversial (and very funny) film is powered by his trademark dialogue, ripe with observations on pop culture, religion, and bodily functions.

Dogma is your new I'll be damned comedy of dark context. Amazing angel construction by these costumers and the actors who wore them.
It heklps to be familiar with Catholic or Christian dogma as you wade in. The portrayal of Megatron by Alan Rickman and Brad Pitt as Loki gives a clue to the quality of this as a new "cult classic" cinema to share with your inner circle of doubters.

Hard to find movie is brilliant
I wanted to see this movie on a streaming product. No dice. So went to Netflix. Not available. But eBay had this copy for sale. No flaws, hiccups or glitches. Intriguing story that's going to annoy a lot of people. But to me it's just great humor!

Awesome movie
I've always loved this movie and when I learned that it was rare to find it and it never comes on tv anymore, you can't find it on NETFLIX or HULU or REDBOX....had to have it. It was brand new AND NEVER opened. Love it thanks.

I love this movie and finding it on DVD is priceless since the chances of it ever streaming are close to zero. I bought it pre-owned so expected a little wear and tear but it was like it is brand new!

Controversial entertaining movie.
Entertaining movie. A lot of foul language. The general message is ok, but some may consider it blasphemous. I've seen it before, and I like it. Sometimes it's just meant to be entertaining. It's fictional- not a documentary.

One of my favs
I saw Dogma when i was a teenager while at a friends house. When i say its one of my favorites, i mean i quote it almost on a daily basis. Best actors, great concept, so dang funny!!! Chris rocks character is amazing and its quite the lesson teacher! “I just think its better to have ideas, you can change an idea, a belief is trickier.” - Rufus the 13th apostle
