Product Information

The second in the "island" trilogy, SON OF GODZILLA opens with a group of scientists on a deserted island performing weather experiments; they soon discover that nuclear activity has mutated insects on the island into huge preying mantises. They courageously continue with their experiment until a horrible accident cause a radioactive storm, mutating the insects further, uncovering a giant egg, and summoning Godzilla. The egg hatches into a young monster that Godzilla takes under his wing, training it in the ways of proper monsterhood while battling the giant insects. Akira Kubo stars as an intrepid journalist who comes to the island in search of a story.

    two godzillas are better than one

    You either like the Godzilla series or not . The movies, after the first few have a different feel to them, more geared for a young audience I suppose. Some of them are better than others , Son of Godzilla probably falls under the "others" category, but nevertheless is an entertaining movie and a Godzilla movie collection isn't complete without it. There is overacting ,emotional monsters, improbable situations , everything you expect from the series . Then there is the soundtrack....interesting.

    great movies! not gandhi, but who watched that

    great movies! no ghandi, but who watched that more than once... perhaps you have to be a certain age(over 60 under 6) to appreciate them. ah , the days of practical special efx!! if approached in the proper creature feature frame of mind (and a full bowl of popcorn) a fun time at the home movie theater. imho, best watched in original japanese, but a nice nostalgia/wacky feeling viewed in english

    Son of Godzilla Godzilla versus Mechagodzilla

    Very good way to own these vintage Godzilla movies without having to pay $60 to $100 each. The quality of the screening is excellent. No skips or scratches.

    Japanese fun

    This is film not to be taken seriously but is one you would like to watch on a rainy day as Godzilla is pitted against Rodan and other creatures who are mutated through a weather experiment - we see Godzilla in a different light as a father figure here and as protector to his son Minya against the likes of Spiga and giant mantisis - Sony does a good job with this rare release on dvd as this is out of print and can go for 70 to 100 dollars on Ebay - this dvd contains the japanese edition and International english version with no special features - Enjoy.

    Great set of film for godzilla fans

    I'll be the first to admit Son of Godzilla is not a great film, but a must for godzilla fans. This was a great deal for 2 films that can be really hard to come by. The video is good quality and the stories are classic godzilla fun.
