Digitally remastered edition of the Southern Rock band's 1973 album. Brothers And Sisters documents a band reinventing itself and finding a new direction after a traumatic loss. By the time they released the album, The Allman Brothers Band had experienced dizzying highs and soul-crushing lows. The group had spent it's first two years developing it's formidable collective chemistry into an unprecedented stylistic fusion that established it as the era's most influential American rock act. But just as the band had achieved a hard-won commercial breakthrough with 1971's at Fillmore East, it suffered a devastating loss with the death of Duane Allman, it's founder, leader and musical visionary, in a motorcycle crash on October 29, 1971. Following Duane's traumatic passing, the band regained it's bearings and soldiered on, with Duane's brother, singer/organist Gregg Allman, and guitarist/vocalist Dickey Betts now the lone axeman in an act famous for it's dual-guitar fireworks-assuming more prominent roles in it's direction.

Brothers and Sisters Plus
I am a fan of the Allman Brothers Band in a very big way. The Brothers and Sisters album was issued in 1973 after both Duane Altman and Berry Oakley had died. It was a commercial and critical success and is a milestone of the band's creativity and personnel changes. This 4-disk special edition is a marvelous supplement that includes the original tracks from the vinyl release and various other performances. The goldmine here is a lengthy gem that includes rehearsals and outtakes. I cannot stop listening and marveling at the wild variety of styles and genres the band explored as well as the superb musicianship that continued from the genesis of the group through numerous challenges and personnel shifts. The great original compositions, the innovative covers, the almost pscjic connections among the players as they jammed and never played anything the same way twice. If you love what is arguably the best rock/jazz/blues/country band that ever took to the stage or recording studio the way I do, this wonderful special expanded edition of one of their truly signature albums will be a must-have and treasured addition to your ABB treasure trove.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Going in a new direction after the death of Duane Allman and Barry Oakly with Dickey Betts emerging as the band leader with a new sound. Great original cd that we are all familiar with and a cool alternate versions cd. Then cd 3 & 4 has the ABB showcasing this new lineup with a great live show at Winter land. Holy Grail for any Allman Brothers Band collector!
This package gives you the complete Brothers and Sisters album remastered, but also a full disc of alternative versions and outtakes. It is also the only place you can get the complete Winterland show from September 1973. This show has both fantastic sound quality and top notch performances.
