Great introduction to WiFi Mesh
The router I bought was second hand but in good order and works well. I am using it as a primary router on Virgin Media Cable, with the Virgin Superhub 2 working in “Modem Mode”. I have a 100MB service and the router now allows full speed service on WiFi. Set-up was a problem at first, the lesson is set it up over WiFi with NO local network connected, just the WAN connection to the modem. Lesson learned. Once I was over that hurdle the connection went very smoothly. The LAN port of the MR2200ac is connected to a 16 port switch (Netgear) which connects to the rest of my wired devices. I have added a second MR2200ac in the lounge to extend the WiFi. This is also connected to the LAN so the ‘back haul’ between the two MR2200ac devices is over Ethernet, this is not essential as there is a second 5GHz band that can do this. The unit is much more discrete than the Synology RT2600ac Router with it it’s forest of external aerials but the signal strength is excellent despite my homes concrete walls.
