Product Information

Though the studios of the Golden Age were reluctant to produce films about Anti-Semitism, this Elia Kazan picture remains one of the best of the few Hollywood treatments of the subject. Gregory Peck gives the right gravity to his role of a magazine reporter who comes to understand in a personal way the barriers imposed by prejudice when, to add depth to his magazine feature, he takes on a Jewish identity. Moss Hart wrote the script, which was based on the novel by Laura Z. Hobson.

Gentleman's Agreement. Great movie.
I enjoyed the movie very much. I like Gregory Peck. The movie was about a serious subject. We still have that problem today. It was thought provoking. All the characters seemed realistic. I'm sure that I'll watch it again. The DVD came as advertised. Full screen. In excellent condition. New.

a classic but dated film "Gentleman's Agreement" 1947
This is a classic film and won the Oscar for best picture in 1947. Some aspects are a bit dated and the concern with subtle anti-semitism is worthwhile, but it is worth noting that Black Americans faced far worse discrimination. It is also worth noting that the major motion picture studios, mostly run by Jews, a few years after this film allowed the black-listing and career destruction of many actors, screenwriters, and directors for perceived political views.

It's a good movie, but not great. It has unfortunately aged badly today, but its topic was very important back in the late 1940's. -Jonathan J. Costner/Filmmaker and viewer of films

My mother told me I should watch this movie at least 40 years ago .. and she was right ... as usual . Elia Kazan takes on issues that need to be seen and talked about .

Gentlemen's Agreement...best picture and still timely
Masterpiece! Won best picture... Very timely. Everyone should see it. Is also full frame, so even more enjoyable.

More than you bargained for!
Great movie which REALLY digs deep down into the topic of anti-Semitism even in the places you would least expect to find it! I thought the actors were great too!
