    "8866 Service Station Special upgrades"

    The item 8866 is a Service Station Special remake of the post war 2348. It was half the cost but lacked the rear light & electronic horn as factory built. I installed these parts to add the features. My item received had a broken solder joint at the motor that prevented it from running. This was easily repaired when the light and horn were added. The upgraded 8866 works well, fast & pulls 7 flatcars with loads. I would recommend anyone that desires a red M &StL to get this item in place of a 2348 with equal condition. They can save the money & do the upgrades for less money.

    Disappointed with my purchase

    Motor has very little power compared to the Lionel locomotives of the 50s which I collect and still operate. This piece has difficulty navigating an incline, derails when going over a vintage Lionel switch and is just not the same quality as the vintage Lionel. I am very disappointed.

    I am satisfied with the locomotive that I ordered. It was in used condition like I expected it to be, but runs well.
