Well. It's definitely not a U.S. format. It's the Canadian Region lock. Which is ok if you have a player to play it in. Season 1 and 2 are very old school display. VHS format if you will. But if you love that retro style then you'll be solid with this. Though it's the anniversary edition, the episodes mainly stayed the same in display. The collectors pack is cool. But, make sure you have a mark ready for where you last left off on which disc. Not numbered. The price I paid was fair. But if you want sharper and update images from the show, it won't be from this.

It is a pretty awesome thing for a TNG fan to have the complete series in one box set. However after purchasing this set the only true thing that makes it great is having every episode in a space saving package. The packaging is clusmy and falls apart and the discs have a real hard time staying in place. Trying to "reassemble" the set can prove problematic. There are no real bonus features to speak of. The one good documentary hosted by John DeLance is nice but has no actors in the interviews only obscure crew members like prop masters and visual effects guys. For a true 20th anniversay feature I would have expected much more. So to sum up, if you have the space to purchase the seasons individually I would recommend going that route. Much better packaging.
As a vessel for me to finally see all 7 seasons of The Next Generation this product delivers. It is exactly all of the episodes as I remember them. All the fun, sometimes brilliant, sometimes downright silly writing and stories that have made Star Trek the phenomenon that it is are all there. I can find no fault with the amount of entertainment I have gotten from the actual watching of the show. However, the packaging and manufacturing of the case leaves MUCH to be desired. It is very cheaply manufactured. The case is flimsy plastic, with even cheaper made "sleeves" to put the discs in (plastic holders displaying two discs at a time held unreasonably tightly to the case making removing a disc without chance of either the case cracking or the disc getting scratched a frustrating ordeal. These sleeves are then taped (yes, taped) together at the spine in stacks of about 8-9 a piece which makes changing discs a frustrating ordeal since the plastic cases become separated at the slightest wrong pull and re-assembly with packing tape necessary. The plastic dust sleeve covering the collection is a joke sliding on since it takes at least 5 minutes of jockeying the sleeves into place to get it right without risk of snapping one of the green plastic holders or peeling the tape spines almost impossible. You'd think for a 49 disc collection they would have at least put the discs into at least paper booklets. It would have reduced the cost of the manufacture as well as frustrating organization. As a summary, this ia not a showpiece. This is not a brilliantly designed centerpiece for your DVD collection. It shares more in common with the stack of homeburned DVDs that are a part of most collections nowadays: functional as a medium, but nothing to show off. Buy it for the indulgence as I did, but don't expect to show it off with pride to non-trekkies.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This set is an authentic US product release (go to your stores and check it out) - it is not an import, but the cons still outweigh the pros, or in this case, the one pro. The main cons are the crappy green design, the shabby plastic disc booklet, which are basically 8 or 9 double sided disc holders taped together, and not including any kind of season/episode/description booklet hoping buyers would be satisfied with episode names on the discs. The one pro is that they do include a bonus disc with some new material which is interesting but not buying a new set for. Basically some idiot said "Hey let's take a bunch of dvd trays, tape 'em together, burn the same dvds but let's change to a gaudy green label, stuff them in gaudy green box, slap on sub par bonus disc, of course let's not add anything more like commentaries, or do a better digital transfer, or add play all features, or finally allow the viewer to skip that long loading menu (it was cute for 10 secs) etc. and hope the fact that a complete set with a little bonus will make fans buy it." To be fair getting a complete disc set is great - but you might as well buy a case logic folder to hold you dvds. On the other hand the individual sets are dropping in value, they look great on display, and if you want, you can still use a case logicfolder to hold the discs. I say screw the bonus disc - stick with the individual sets. Let's teach paramount not to release an inferior product just to gut us for more money. They had enough time to make significant improvements to the product. They simply don't care. So we should return the favor.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Let me start out by saying I love Star Trek. For the Star Trek fan this is the ultimate collection! It has every single episode all in one package. So with that I would like to go over the good and not so good things about the collection. The Good 1. The price was was good.I got it on Ebay. For the money I spent on this, I would paid for only Three seasons had I bought it separatly. So I'd say I got a good deal! 2. It is the complete collection!! All seasons from 1-7 all wrapped up to go. Now the not so good 1. The packaging is terrible. The container it goes into is nice, but that is it. The trays are brittle and tend to break(It broke right after I got it). The discs want to come out without any prompting of it's owner. 2.There is no episode guide!!!! The only way you know what is showing on what discs is by looking on the discs themselves. The episodes are printed on the discs in very small print that you can hardly read. 3. There is no extra goodies!!!! Oh it comes with a small poster but I would hardly call that a worth-while extra. You would think that they could come up with somthing good to put in there instead of just trying to make a quick buck. As I said before I love Star Trek so to get this all in one collection was pretty awesome. If I had to pay the three or four hundred dollars that they wanted for the collection instead of the Two that I actually spent on it then the collection would not really be worth it. You could spend a little more and get a lot more extras. So if you want a good deal then Ebay is the way. You might get lucky like I did. I hope this helped anyone who was sitting on the edge about buying this collection. I'll see you May 2009 when Star Trek makes it's triumphant return to the big screen. Live Long and Prosper!Vollständige Rezension lesen
