Informationen zu dieser Wohltätigkeitsorganisation:
The Tony Hawk Foundation seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on supporting and empowering youth. Through special events, grants, and technical assistance, the Foundation supports recreational programs with a focus on the creation of public skateboard parks in low-income communities.
Skate legend Jamie Thomas has teamed up with GRAMMY Award-winning artist Bob Dylan to create this one-of-a-kind artifact—Jamie Thomas’ personal ridden skateboard deck with his favorite song lyric (“Blowin’ In The Wind”) written on it by Bob Dylan himself.
The board is a 7-ply maple laminate ZERO brand Jamie Thomas pro model. It’s decorated with Thomas’ personal decal ensemble, and has all the signature wear and tear you would expect from a professional athlete. Bob Dylan then hand-wrote the lyrics to “Blowin’ In The Wind” on it. Such an artifact from two icons of the skate and music worlds has never existed before, and it can be yours.
This special skateboard collaboration is part of the nonprofit Tony Hawk Foundation’s Boards + Bands program (www.boardsandbands.org). Funds raised through this effort will support the Tony Hawk Foundation and its mission to bring the benefits of free, public skateparks to at-risk youth across the U.S.
This and other skateboards from the Boards + Bands program are on display during this special auction. Come visit them at the GRAMMY Museum at LA Live: 800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015 (corner of Olympic and Figueroa). Museum hours, admission, and other information can be found at
www.grammymuseum.org, or by calling (213) 765-6800.
This board will remain in the exhibit through Monday, December 17, 2012, and will be available to ship after that date. It includes a Letter of Authenticity from the Tony Hawk Foundation, a custom embroidered velvet cover, as well as custom hanging hardware from Sk8ology.
Jamie Thomas once drove six hours across state lines to a specific handrail, exited his vehicle, skated for 20 minutes until he landed his trick, and then drove six straight hours back home. But intense focus and the will to bend back fear and push boundaries are what made Jamie one of the world’s most famous skaters. As a teenager, he left Alabama to chase his skateboard dreams in San Francisco. Instead of breaking down doors and impressing the industry, he ended up penniless and living in the streets. Humbled, but unbroken, he simply concrete camped and focused on improving.
His skating matured and he set himself apart by hucking himself down some of the scariest rails and gaps in skateboarding. His cringe-worthy slams earned him a massive following and inspired his fans to push their boundaries. In 1996, he captured the disenfranchised culture of skateboarding with his company ZERO, which remains one of the top skate brands in the world.
Jamie continues to skate, run his numerous companies, and spend time with his family.

Bob Dylan didn’t simply change music—he deconstructed it and has spent over half a century constantly reassembling it in unique and challenging ways. He emerged from New York’s Greenwich Village as a folk star, but quickly dismissed that spectacular fame as too constricting. Turning his back on that scene, he blasted out three albums that changed the American music landscape. Not only did they distance him from his former music, but the looser rock structure allowed him the freedom to manipulate song structure.
His career has rolled along like a landscape, with peaks and occasionally valleys. He’s spent most of his life rolling his eyes at the genius label thrown at him, messing with reporters, acting in movies, painting, raising kids, challenging people to think for themselves, and consistently releasing music that continues to inspire, confound, and enlighten.

Jamie Thomas on why he chose Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind"
“Bob Dylan is one of the most influential singers and songwriters alive. I find the different phases of his musical career fascinating, and I have found solace in his music for as long as I can remember. I feel truly honored to be able to collaborate with Bob for the Boards + Bands project.”
