Hi, I am selling this superb Flambeau LFW-3C acoustic guitar - designed by George Lowden - made in Japan.
This was built in Japan in 1983, designed by George Lowden and built in the K.Yairi factory alongside the Japanese Lowdens. I bought it very recently out of curiosity, many of you may have seen it listed. I have long been interested in experiencing first hand these Flambeau guitars and it is every bit as good as they say. Light, resonant, bright, gutsy guitar. The bracing inside is parabolic, looks exactly like a Lowden bracing design to me without the double thickness soundhole. I am only selling because I have realised that I don't get on with dreadnoughts, after playing my 12 frets, OMs and parlours, dreads just seem huge to me now. I have set it up, cleaned it inside and out, polished it, removed and cleaned the tuners (which are superb smooth high quality units), cleaned/oiled the fretboard, dressed / polished the frets and set up the neck and action (2mm/1.5mm at the 12th fret in DADGAD. 2.5mm / 2mm in standard tuning - see photos), and adjusted the nut slot height for easy playing. It really sings now, I think I have got about a third as much tone out of it from when it arrived - with same strings (it did have 30 years of carpet fluff inside it mind, which couldn't have helped)! I am selling because would like to gather funds for another guitar. I have set the price at what I paid plus £30 for my two days work setting it up, if I can cover my cost that's great. Whoever buys this will not be disappointed. It's sounds amazing and plays beautifully, the neck is perfectly straight with just the right hint of relief, intonation in dead on. The build quality is really high with beautiful tonewoods and finerboard/bridge, jacaranda headstock veneer, maple and rosewood binding / rosette and generally lovely wood grain. I think the back and sides are a species of cherry, the sound is amazing, both punchy and with a great sustain. Please bear in mind this is not a museum piece, there are small marks and scratches on the body and a crack in the lacquer only (not in the wood) on the top of one side. It's a 30 year old a players guitar in great playing and sounding condition. Comes with an old tatty soft case I have spare. Will be packed very very securely (double boxed) for shipping. Any questions just ask. Cheers. |
